Born January 28, 1948 in Ann Arbor, MI, Bill Kirchen spent his formative years in his hometown where he first learned to play the trombone.

In high school, Bill became involved with the local folk scene and learned to play guitar and banjo.  While Bill was studying at the University of Michigan, George Frayne and John Tichy decided to put a country band together which became Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen.

In 1969, Bill, who was a guitarist with the band, realized that it was time to head west where the group made it big.

After the breakup of Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen in 1976, Bill branched out in the next decade with the formation of the Moonlighters in addition to playing some Cody tours.

In 1986, Bill settled down near Washington, D.C. forming his own band Too Much Fun.  Quickly, the group became local favorites and award winners.

Bill and his wife, Louise, reside in Maryland near Washington, DC.
